The Carlisle Fire Department is an on-call (paid) department and has a Part-Time Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Prevention Inspector, and Administrative Assistant. The department maintains minimum staffing of six firefighters (including two EMTs and one officer).
Among services provided by the department are fire prevention and suppression, investigations and inspections, emergency medical services, and public education.
Training sessions for all firefighters are conducted on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 7 until 9:30 p.m. An all day training session is conducted on a Saturday each spring. In addition, EMTs receive in-service training at the fire station on the first Wednesday of each month from 7 until 10 p.m., and are required to complete a state-mandated 40 hours of continuing education every two years. Members also attend field classes conducted by the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.
