Each student will be given one or two solos to work on over the course of the class as well as one or two ensembles pieces and will be coached on them in class. The class will present one or more ensembles with solos to be performed at one of the CCM recitals toward the conclusion of the ten week session. Classes will focus on ear training, range, projection, movement and fun! Students will be required to bring a small recording device to all classes, and to practice outside of class.

This beginning course helps students learn healthy vocal technique and how to use their voice to the fullest potential within the context of singing age-appropriate songs from the musical theatre repertory. Students will learn breath control, voice placement, and how to increase their range and improve their town and pitch in the fun-oriented format of the Broadway style. Group and individual work are stressed. Two to three selections from a musical theatre piece will be studied and solos from the pieces will be assigned to those who would like them. At the end of term, the class will present one or more of these pieces at a CCM recital and/or an assisted living center nearby. Students will be required to bring a small recording device to class so they can practice at home.

The Group Keyboard class is a comprehensive music program designed to help children learn about music through movement, music games, ear training, solfege singing, rhythm activities, and keyboard playing. The small group will work through a one year book of theory and a collection of songs. Classes are age and ability appropriate. This is a good course for the student who thrives in a group setting. Most students continue on to private instruction. Parental participation is NOT necessary in this new class. Designed as a two-year course, classes encourage development of both the individual's and the group's musical skills. Class time activities cover many aspects of musicianship and keyboard skills. Children develop a solid musical foundation, regardless of future instrument choice. CCM provides
keyboards for the group lessons: however, students must have a piano or keyboard at home to practice. Parent/Caregiver participation at lessons is NOT required. Please note that full year enrollment is required. Class sections should be selected based on the child's age as of September 1, 2011.
