The session was called to order by Mr. Wedge for CCSC and Mr. Fischelis for CSC at 6:38 p.m. after a short Executive Session.
A. Welcome to the Student Advisory Council - Ms. Marree Budris and Ms. Blair Robinson gave an update. Challenge Days went very well and teachers and community members were thanked for participating. The Grapes of Wrath was a great success. The soccer team raised $11,000 for cancer research. Voting for the new schedule for the year is coming up. Student Senate ruled 31 - 1 in favor for the four (4) minute passing time instead of five (5) minutes.

II. READING OF THE MINUTES
A. Open Session
A motion was made to approve the minutes of November 25, 2008. Ms. McGinn, seconded by Ms. Gannon for CPS. Ms. Gannon, seconded by Ms. Ryder for CCSC. The minutes were approved.
III. CORRESPONDENCE
None
IV. RECOGNITIONS
A. Alcott: Lynne Kwarcinski and 5th grade chorus – Ms. Rigby on behalf of Ms. Young, Principal, Alcott would like to recognize the 5th grade chorus under the direction of Ms. Kwarcinski, Music Teacher, for their performances at the Holly Concerts.
B. Middle School Staff – Ms. Rigby on behalf of Mr. Unobskey, Principal, CMS would like to recognize the Middle School Staff for their enthusiasm and professionalism as parents followed their children for Shadow A Student Day.
C. K-12 Scheduling Committee – Ms. Rigby recognized all the members who participated on the K-12 Scheduling Committee. The committee met three (3) times. The committee members were Ms. Fernandes, Principal, Willard, Mr. Flaherty, Mr. Badalament, Principal, CCHS, Mr. Unobskey, Principal, CMS, and Mr. Boyce, Director of Transportation. Ms. Rigby also thanked school committee members Mr. Salemy, Mr. Fondriest, and Ms. Gannon. Special thanks to Ms. Gannon for all her hard work in developing the survey and summarizing all the survey information. Teachers on the committee were Ms. McCann, Ms. Richmond, Ms. Rovitti, Ms. Welburn, Ms. Lance, Ms. Glenn, Ms. Gallagher, Ms. Najimy, Dr. Lenkarski, and Mr. Beers. Staff member was Ms. Tessari. Parents were
Ms. Miller, Ms. Spiers, Ms. Olney, Ms. Simon, Ms. Duggan and the student representative was Ms. Robinson.
C. Parent & teacher facilitators for Challenge Days 2008 - Ms. Rigby thanked the teacher and parent facilitators for Challenge Days. Mr. Badalament, Principal, recognized Mr. Brian Miller, Science Teacher, the student committee and adult and parent volunteers for all their help with fundraising and organizing.
V. REPORTS & ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION
A. Thoreau School fifth grade students – Geometry Demonstration - Mr. Colantuono, Principal, introduced Mr. Lemaire, Grade 5 Teacher. Mr. Lemaire and students Lorin DeMuth, Vinny Sgarzi and Caleb Symons gave a geometry demonstration/lesson.
B. CPS FY10 Budget: Discussion before School Committee vote: Mr. Flaherty stated that the CPS Budget that is being recommended to the school committee is a 1.81% increase above the current FY09 adopted budget.
C. CCRSD FY10 Budget: Discussion before School Committee vote: Mr. Flaherty stated that the budget that is being presented to the School Committee is a Tier II Budget and is 5.21% above the FY09 adopted budget and that is at the total budget level.
VI. ACTION ITEMS
A. Vote to approve School Calendar 2009-2010 - Ms. McCausland, Director, HR, presented the Draft 2009-2010 School Calendar for approval. A motion to vote to approve the School Calendar for 2009-2010 as presented was made by Ms. Ryder and seconded by Mr. Fischelis for CCSC. A motion was made by Ms. McGinn and seconded by Ms. Gannon for CSC. The motion was approved.
B. Vote to approve CPS FY10 Budget - A motion to vote to approve the CPS FY10 Budget for $27,699,200 was made by Ms. McGinn and seconded by Ms. Gannon. The motion was approved.
- Vote to approve CCRSD Budget – A motion to vote that the Concord-Carlisle School Committee vote to adopt a total FY2010 budget for the Concord-Carlisle High School of $22,494,531, with assessment revenue of $19,583,053, in-district contributions of $220,000 from excess & deficiency, $20,000 from investment income, and $5,000 from miscellaneous accounts, pending DOR E & D certification, Chapter 70 Aid of $1,925,396, Regional Transportation Reimbursement of $402,789, Charter Tuition Reimbursements of $44,343, and $288,950 of SBAB reimbursement. Uses of revenues are estimated at $13,682,437 for salaries, $7,773,263 for non-salaries, and $1,038,831 for debt service. A motion to vote to approve the CCRSD FY10 Budget was made by Ms. McGinn and seconded by Ms. Ryder. The motion was approved.
- Vote to approve FY2010 Warrant Articles – A motion that the Concord and Concord-Carlisle School Committees vote to approve the FY2010 warrant articles. A motion was made by Ms. McGinn and seconded by Ms. Gannon for CSC. A motion was made by Ms. McGinn and seconded by Ms. Ryder for CCRSD. The motion was approved.
VII. OLD BUSINESS
- Parents Association Meeting – Meeting to be held December 10, 2008, CCHS Library from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The school committee will talk about the proposed budget for this year and facilities project at the high school.
VIII. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
A. K-12 Scheduling Committee – The committee met three (3) times, October, November and December. The goal was to review the K-12 schedules to maximize student learning and make recommendations to the school committee by January 2009. The committee reviewed transportation information, transportation data, implemented the K-12 Scheduling Survey, discussed the survey results, and discussed pros and cons of different schedule options.

X. ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Ms. McGinn and seconded by Ms. Ryder for CCSC and a motion was made by Ms. McGinn and seconded by Ms. Gannon for CSC to adjourn the meeting. The motion was unanimously approved and the meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
