9/25 & 10/2 DUTY – HONOR – COUNTRY: AMERICA AT WAR 1941 – 1945
German U-Boats raids in North Atlantic along with the Japanese air attack on the American Fleet at Pearl Harbor globalized the Second World War. Within days, both Germany and Italy declared war on the US as well. Hitler was particularly dismissive of America’s war making capabilities. “What is America”, he sneered, but a country of “beauty queens, millionaires, stupid records and Hollywood.” President Roosevelt , however, assured the American people that “we will gain the inevitable triumph so help us God”. World War II was the most cataclysmic event of the 20th century.
